Discovery

Let’s get to know each other, shall we?

Building your dream home on the web starts with getting to know your business, your brand, and most importantly, you! Every design/strategy decision we make stems from first learning as much as we can about your unique vision, and how we can complement and amplify that vision online.

To start most web design or brand identity projects, we walk through a lighthearted questionnaire designed to to help us capture the way you envision your business and its future, in your own words. This enables us to help your personality shine through in the finished project.

Who are your top competitors? What do you like about their brand presence? What do you not like? What are they doing well? What are they not doing well?

These questions help us to narrow down your individual taste, and inform us about marketing practices and design cues/trends in your specific industry, enabling us to reach your audience in a way that makes sense to them. Delving into your competitors’ online presence also helps us with creating on-site search engine optimization (SEO) to make sure you’re ready to compete on Day 1.

Sitemapping

Sitemapping is a crucial part of our strategy process, where we visually lay out the blueprint of your site, where each page will live, and how they will link to each other.

On-Site Wireframing

Wireframing is one area where Log Cabin stands out from other design firms. Many firms will start with an offline wireframe, designing the content layout of the site before beginning to build.

But with the Squarespace platform, we can quickly lay out a wireframe on-site…

This saves us the extra work of potentially laying out the same content twice, and saves you both valuable time and money on your project.

Design & Build

This is where it gets fun.

At Log Cabin, we combine the Design and Build stages - this helps us achieve greater efficiency, and gets you to a finished, quality result, faster. After our Strategy sessions, we’ll get straight to initial designs, building directly inside Squarespace.

We invite you to hop along for the ride during this process, so you can provide formative feedback as we go along, collaboratively arriving at a project you’re thrilled about.

Website Design

For website design projects, we’ll review initial design concepts early on in the process before proceeding on the full build, ensuring that we’re heading in the right direction before constructing the entirety of the site. At every step, we ensure our design works across every device your customers could hope to view it on.

Logo Design & Brand Identity

For logo or brand identity projects, the process is similar - we’ll start by going over a series of initial designs. Once we’re sure we’re on the right track, we’ll continue to refine and revise until you’re stoked about the final result.

Review & Test

When the project is built, we run it through a gauntlet of review processes, looking over and fine-tuning every last detail. This phase also includes an exciting step - final sign-off on the design.

Web Design

For websites, we use Squarespace’s privacy options to test the site across a plethora of devices and browsers, safely hidden from your audience behind a password. You’ll have a chance to view your site in a real-life situation, exploring and playing around with your site before it’s unveiled to the public in all its glory.

Logo Design & Brand Identity

With logo design and brand design projects, this process helps us get your final logo design ready for the real world - finalizing details, and prepping it for use in your marketing, social media, brand guideline documents, etc.

Launch

This is it.

The build is over, and it’s time to move in. Not a safety vest in site.

This is our favourite part, we imagine it’s probably yours, too.

Your business is ready for the sweet, sweet light of day - go out there and get the bag (slang: “make a lot of money off your dope business idea”). All that’s left for us to do is hit “Publish.”

Ongoing Maintenance

Just like a real log cabin (see what we did there?), the work doesn’t end when the site is built.

A lot of people believe a design project is finished once it’s launched, but we don’t! We offer personalized, complementary Squarespace training, and best practices for continued search engine optimization (SEO), to help you maintain and update your site if you want to go DIY afterwards. If not, we’re ready, willing, and able to assist on an ongoing basis.

We offer ongoing website updates and support, SEO optimization, and asset creation, for as long as you need us.
